Carl believes that effective giving is about establishing
why you want to create wealth before seeking to create it.
In other words, knowing where the benefits of you creating
wealth will go, and who it will impact, before you seek to
attract it in the first place.
Through his various companies, Carl ensures a focus on a
concept called transactional giving. See the Sirdar Global
Group website for further information on this unique concept
(www.sirdargroup.com/social-enterprise/).
Carl’s personal focus when it comes to giving and social
entrepreneurship is on enterprise education, sustainable
development (through enterprise growth), health (in
particular eye sight) and the environment. Carl also has a
particular passion for our planet and ensuring its
sustainability.
In his personal capacity, Carl supports a number of
organisations related to his interests and personal
experiences. These have recently included:
The New
Zealand Royal Foundation for the Blind
“I still remember the day I got glasses. I
remember looking at the trees outside the optometrist and
thinking ‘you can actually really see the definition on the
leaves of the trees!’. It was in that moment that I realised
that losing my sight was my biggest fear. Since then I have
contributed to the activities of this organisation,” Carl
recalls.
Oxfam New
Zealand
“Oxfam New Zealand is one of my favourite
charities and is aligned with our business in New Zealand. I
like how Oxfam uses its resources to create sustainability
in the areas of the South Pacific in which they focus,” say
Carl.
